Our new "Badger Inquiry on Sport" (BIOS) project aims to bring the best of research and athletics together. We hope to (1) connect researchers at the University of Wisconsin with people and problems of practice. And (2) we will catalyze new projects that can further the research and sporting pursuits on our campus. Finally (3), our BIOS mission is to communicate about the lessons we learned – both in Madison and beyond.
In advance of the Badgers vs Nittany Lions football showdown, Professor Scanlon led a stimulating conversation about the changing environment in college athletics. Drawing lessons from both his background as a top researcher in health care as well as his high-level leadership in Big Ten and college athletics, Professor Scanlon challenged a group of 25+ researchers, students, and athletic department staff members to think anew about our current policy environment.
